'Youth Matters' Achievement Awards 2007
- Nominations welcomed
South Tyneside Council's Youth Service has developed and hosted
the 'Youth Matters' Achievement Awards for the last two years. This
award celebrates the many and varied positive outcomes and achievements
gained by young people aged 13-19 in South Tyneside.
Last years event involved 48 individuals and groups of young people
receiving certificates, which equated to almost 200 young people
being acknowledged for a broad range of positive actions and achievements
they had gained.
This was achieved following nominations received from local young
people focused organisations, agencies and projects across the borough.
Given the popularity of this initiative we are looking to hold
the Awards again at a special celebration evening on 6th
November 2007 at The Prestige Hotel in South Shields. The
Hotel has once again kindly agreed to support this event.
Please note that this is not a competition and all young people
nominated will be acknowledged equally. The eligibility criteria
for this award is detailed in the nomination
pack which is available in the useful documents section.
The closing date for receiving nominations is 12th October
2007.
Young people nominated will be invited to attend the celebration
event along with their nominators so please ensure that you diary
this special occasion into your calendars when you complete and
return your nomination form.
This event will be part of this year's National
Youth Work Week celebrations that is themed ‘All
Different, All Equal’, which is a perfect theme for
celebrating the many and varied positive outcomes gained by our
young people. This is an excellent opportunity to acknowledge and
highlight the work you do with young people so please ensure that
your young people are part of this celebration.
Full details of the celebration event will be forwarded to all
nominators following the closing date. Please forward this information
onto any relevant colleagues that work with or for young people
aged 13-19. We look forward to receiving your completed nominations
by the closing date of 12th October 2007.
