Parents Arguing

This can be very upsetting to experience for some people, if your mum and dad are arguing it can be hard to understand, its important to remember that they are only human, they will argue from time to time, it doesn’t mean that they love each other any less.

When you think about the amount of times you argue with your friends at school or when you are out and about with your boyfriend/girlfriend, I bet you have had an argument this week. Your parents are just the same, from time to time they will have a disagreement, they will not mean to argue in front of you but sometimes they forget their role as a parent.

One of the most common concerns of young people is that they feel it’s their fault for their parents arguing, this isn’t true!!! Parents tend to use arguments to clear the air about a number of issues, probably nothing to do with you, its their way of bringing a matter to attention without talking about it directly to one another.

If your parents arguing is very upsetting to you why don’t you tell them, they may not notice how upset their arguing is making you. If you can talk to your parents they will be able to understand how you feel and this could be the first step in helping not just you but your mum and dad as well.

Some young people become so upset by the arguing that they feel as if they have no other choice but to run away from home, this isn’t the answer!!! In order to help your mum and dad they need to know what they are doing to you, and you need to let them know what they are doing to each other.
