Dirty Harry star turned Director Clint Eastwood scooped two Oscars
for this moving pic.
Co-stars, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman, also won two gongs for
their stunning performances.
It's easy to see why the movie was a hit with the Academy, all
performances are stunning and the dark, dimlet set throughout leads
itself well to a gloomy, though occassionally uplifting, plot.
Swank plays a female boxer Maggie, coached by Eastwood's character,
with a typically strong offering from Morgan Freeman whose performance
link the two main characters together.
The DVD has an insight from the writer Pual Haggis who adapted
the script from a short movie penned by FX Toole. There are three
featurettes in all including Hilary Swank discussing how the rags
to riches tale of her character in the movie echoes her own success
in Hollywood.
