Effects:
Amyl nitrites are sniffed either directly from the bottle or by soaking it on a rag. A rush is felt immediately but is short lived. The drug reduces blood pressure, increases heart rate, reduces inhibitions and relaxes the body and muscles. Some people experience headaches, dizziness and nausea.
What to look for:
Gold coloured liquid often in small brown bottles. Regular use can lead to skin problems around the nose and mouth.

This drug is often used to heighten sexual arousal and you will find then in some sex shops. They have become popular with people at clubs and raves, as they heighten the pleasure of dancing.
FACT: Amyl nitrite should not be used by people with heart problems, blood pressure exertions and glaucoma (as pressure is increased on the eye).
Law:
The possession and use of poppers is currently not illegal.
