Other names:
Charlie, snow, C and coke.

Effects:
Cocaine increases alertness, confidence and energy, as well as increasing your pulse rate and blood pressure. Eyes become sensitive to light and pupils dilate. Exhilaration is before long, replaced by restlessness and nausea.

What to look for:
White powder form, which is chopped up into lines and snorted through a tube. It can also be injected, so look out for syringes.

Other info:
Cocaine can cause nose ulcers, convulsions and depression. If cocaine is injected, HIV and hepatitis can be transmitted.

FACT:
Cocaine is expensive and can cost up to £60-£80 per gram.

Law:

  • The maximum sentence for possessing cocaine or crack is 7 years imprisonment and an unlimited fine.
  • The maximum sentence for supplying cocaine or crack (which includes giving some to a friend) is life imprisonment and an unlimited fine.
  • Cocaine or crack can be detected in the urine for up to 3 days.
